Would you like to gain hands-on financial and business development experience in Washington, D.C.?

SACC-DC is seeking a Business and Finance Intern to join our team starting in August 2026.
This is a 12-month, full-time internship, ideal for a student who wants to combine analytical financial work with strategic business development in an international environment.
The internship is carried out in collaboration with the Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law. Selected candidates will receive a 12-month stipend from Göteborgs Handelshögskolefonds Stipendiestiftelse, enabling them to live and work in Washington, D.C. during the full internship period.

Washington, D.C. is a global hub where business, policy, and innovation intersect. From our office at the House of Sweden on the Georgetown waterfront, you will work closely with the Executive Director, the Treasurer, and chamber members ranging from startups to multinational corporations. After completing the internship, you will have gained practical financial experience and built a valuable cross-Atlantic professional network.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct day-to-day accounting operations, including handling invoices, processing transactions, and reconciling accounts.
  • Assist in preparing, monitoring, and analyzing budgets.
  • Support the Treasurer with financial reporting, financial analysis, and various finance-related tasks.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives, including research, data analysis, and member support.
  • Prepare financial insights for board meetings and organizational planning.
  • Engage with member companies and support Chamber activities from a financial and business perspective.
  • Assist with general administrative duties and operational tasks within the office.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on communication tasks related to financial updates or business programs when needed.

Requirements

  • Must be a current student or recent graduate of the Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law (Handelshögskolan i Göteborg).
  • Academic background in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
  • Swedish citizenship or strong ties to Sweden (required for U.S. J-1 visa purposes).
  • Strong analytical skills and interest in financial operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Swedish and English.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Service-oriented mindset and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant experience through coursework, work, or extracurricular activities is considered a strong merit.
