ABOUT THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA
|
The San Francisco Bay Area is known as the high-tech
capital of the world as well as the financial center of the West Coast. This nine-county
metropolitan area is home to more than 6.7 million people, numerous multinational
corporations and some of the United States top-universities.

With an annual economy in excess of $200 billion, the Bay Area ranks as the fifth-largest
economy in the United States and 21st-largest in the world! Some 60.000 business
are located here and the area is expected to gain more than 100.000 jobs in the
next 20 years.
 It's currently
recognized as being the most productive region in the Unites States, as having
the highest concentration of research centers as well as the fastest-growing small
business sector in the country. In short, the Bay Area is bustling with activity.
 The banking and IT-industries
are of course very prominent, but so too are sectors such as food processing,
insurance, publishing, chemicals, oil refining and machinery. The Bay Area also
has the highest density of venture capital firms in the world.

In this dynamic and ever-changing environment, the Swedish-American Chamber of
Commerce San Francisco/Silicon Valley offers a unique network of members with
invaluable knowledge and experience in a broad range of business fields. |
