SACC-CIEL Entrepreneurship Workshop

The 2006 Swedish-American Entrepreneurial Days launches a new program for developing entrepreneurs in both countries - a three day entrepreneurial workshop for budding entrepreneurs. This year, this event will be held in Lidköping, Sweden, in cooperation with the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Lidköping.

What is SACC-CIEL Entrepreneurship Workshop about?
The SACC-CIEL Entrepreneurship Workshop (SEW) is now inviting applications from entrepreneurs in USA and Sweden for participating in this intense workshop and learn more about entrepreneurial skills and develop their business concepts. The workshop provides a good balance of practical advice from entrepreneurs in varying stages of their ventures, as well as theoretical inputs from faculty members and other professionals (incubator managers, venture capitalists, etc.) working in this area from Europe and USA. At the end of the workshop, participants will attend the Swedish-American Entrepreneurial Days (E-Days) 2006, where they will meet entrepreneurs, service providers, key managers, city and government officials from both countries, and begin expanding their network to develop their business concept further.

Interactive sessions with entrepreneurs and incubator managers

Feedback and comments from other participants

How will I be evaluated?
All participants/participant teams will present their business concepts at the end of the SEW. Three concepts will be evaluated by a panel of 3 judges, and chosen to receive awards. Everyone completing SEW satisfactorily will receive a Certificate of Completion, and will be admitted to CIEL alumni network.

What can I take away from SEW and E-Days?
An appreciation of the entrepreneurial process
Knowledge of basic analysis required to develop a business plan
An appreciation of how technical issues can be meshed with business issues to start a successful business
Contacts with entrepreneurs, financiers, other entrepreneurial service providers, and researchers, who could provide further mentoring and guidance

How much will it cost me?
The registration fee is US$750 (SEK 6000). This includes all program materials, accommodation for 10 days, most meals, and the registration fee for E-Days. It also includes a gala dinner at Såtenäs. A few scholarships are available to deserving students. Please apply early!

In addition to the registration fee above, US participants should expect to spend about $900 for airfare and other transportation to Lidköping. Also participants should ensure that they have appropriate health insurance coverage during their stay in Sweden.

How do I apply?

What will happen after I submit my application?
Your application will be evaluated by a 3-member review panel. You will be notified of the decision by July 4. You will be required to confirm your acceptance by July 6 by returning the acceptance email. Failure to do so will result in forfeiting your seat in the workshop. Once you have confirmed your acceptance, you will receive workshop materials and further instructions by July 10.
