In September, America Goes To Sweden To Open Doors For Swedish Clean Technology

By Karin Karlsson, Makk Communications, for eCurrents

It’s been said before, Sweden has the technology. Now, there is a market in need.
- In the next few years, the U.S. will probably be the largest business opportunity worldwide for renewable energy considering all current changes socially, financially and politically. Even though Sweden is a small country, it’s uniquely positioned and respected with very high quality and world-leading technology. And, this is what we want to combine, excellent technology with the largest market in the world, says Ross Harding, Vice President Business Development of Herty Advanced Materials Development Center.

It’s at the annual Entrepreneurial Days (Edays) where companies as Herty will gather to meet the Swedish industry to build and develop new and existing business relationships.
- Edays is a much appreciated event and the place to meet for companies interested in expanding businesses. We’re glad to see global ideas take action – that’s when we know we’ve succeeded on our end, says Viveka Wahlstedt, Chairman of the Board of the Swedish-American Chambers of Commerce (SACC-USA).

Harding has high beliefs in his cooperation with SACC. At Edays Stockholm, he’s planning on laying the groundwork for a strong relationship moving forward for Swedish companies interested in expanding their businesses into the U.S. Herty’s role as a member of a group of launch-pad organizations is to provide connections and resources for Swedish technology to find a fit in the U.S. market place. Harding explains how he wants the companies to feel more secure about entering the otherwise maybe “daunting” market.
- The U.S. can be very large on your own. We will provide the infrastructure and support to make the probability of the companies succeed much higher, says Harding.

The next U.S. Edays will take place in Herty’s home town, Savannah, Georgia. This is where Harding sees the connections developing into working relationships between Swedish technology companies and U.S. landowners growing biomass.
- It will be a major opportunity for Swedish companies to get to meet U.S. suppliers and to display their products and businesses. Edays is a wonderful venue because it focuses on connecting companies that otherwise would not find an exchange, Harding explains.

As a panelist speaker at Edays Stockholm, Harding will make an industry deep dive into clean tech and focus on how much the U.S. marketplace is changing, the momentum of right now and how uniquely positioned Swedish businesses are in the clean technology industry.

Edays Stockholm will take place on September 15-16, 2008 at Clarion Hotel Sign. For more information and to register visit www.sacc-edays.org/stockholm
